Earlier this year, the kids and I received this amazing “Pics in a Blanket” as a gift from a friend. It’s an awesome knitted blanket featuring one of my fave photos of my kids (R. snuggling her 10-day-old baby brother). The photo is incorporated right into the construction of the blanket (it’s not printed of silkscreened), so when I put it in the washer or dryer (yes, it’s safe to put in both), everything stays and looks exactly the same afterwards. The blanket is extremely soft (80% cotton/20% acrylic) and is huge- 50″ x 60″. I put up a picture of S. sitting on it so you get an idea of the scale. You can choose to have it made in black and white or sepia tones.
I can’t begin to tell you how much use we’ve gotten out of this blanket in the past six months. It’s perfect weight and size for snuggling up for a nap on the couch, for playing “picnic” on the floor with the kids, or for putting an extra layer over the kids’ beds on cold nights. And, obviously, as a sentimental photo gift that can be used every day, this gift practically begs to be bought for proud grandparents or other relatives for the holidays. Each blanket costs $85.
