National Stationery Show: What’s Trending

Did you read my article last month at about stationery trends for 2011? I noticed a bunch of motifs themes at this past Spring’s National Stationery Show. Here are some that you’re likely to spot at stationery stores soon:

Cupcakes are a big hit with people of all ages:

Sugar “Hi” Diecut Notecard Set ($12.95) by Lifeguard Press for Dylan’s Candy Bar.

Letterpress Birthday No. Trois Card ($4.50) by Sky of Blue Cards.

Alphabet Cupcakes Flourescent White Lettra Notes ($14) by Crane & Co.

Civic Pride is on the rise! Many stationery designers are finding ways to tout their own hometowns, cities, and states. Love this trend.

International Stamp Sets (not yet available online) by Yellow Owl Workshop.

United States Map Postcard by Sugarcube Press.

City Map Letterpress Postcards ($3) by Gooseberry Press.

Letterpress state 5 x 7 prints ($15) by 1Canoe2.

Nautical motifs are popular, too….just in time for summer.

Nautical letterpress cards (including “Nauty Pants” lower left, $5) by Carolyn Suzuki.

Harbor Beach Invitations by Bella Figura.

Bon Voyage Card ($3) and Congratulations Card ($3) by Smock Paper.

Forget planes, trains and automobiles….Bicycles are the way to go now.

Letterpressed “From Me To You” cards ($25 for box of 10) from Kate Spade New York for Crane & Co.

Bicycle Gift Wrap (not yet available online) by Smudge Ink.

Bicycle Handcrafted Albums ($29 for a brag book) by Rag and Bone.

Bicycle Party Invitation by Smudge Ink.

Letterperss Bicycle Coasters by Jilly Jack Designs.

Robots are rivaling (and even replacing) owls as designers’ favorite pet:

Robot Party Invitations by Hicks Paper.

Robot Birthday Card ($4.50) by Hello Lucky Cards.

Robot Gift Wrap (designer unkown, sorry).

Robot Thank You Cards Boxed Set ($20 for set of 8) by Dempsey Press.

p.s. For all of you who love stationery, too, I’m going to have a giveaway of assorted notecards and greeting cards (including lots of letterpress) from the National Stationery Show later this month at the blog. Stay tuned.
