I am pretty certain that The Moms’ event with Tori Spelling celebrating the launch of her new book celebraTORI: Unleashing Your Inner Party Planner to Entertain Friends and Family will be one of my favorite blogger events of 2012.
You already know that I’m a huge fan of Tori’s. I met her in 2009 for the launch of the Little Maven clothing line, and I’ve written about her (and her clothing and decor style) extensively at this blog. Remember this post about how to copy the look of her amazing Hollywood glam master bedroom for less?
So I jumped at the chance to attend this party at Make Meaning yesterday. Tori did a Q&A with The Moms’ founders Melissa Gerstein and Denise Albert, and shared tidbits including the following: 1) She is due with Baby #4 this September and no, it was not planned! 2) This trip is the longest she’s been away from her kids– 4 days 3) She functions on very little sleep and constantly is making “lists” in her head 4) She loves to throw parties on a budget 5) Surprisingly, she plans most parties with just a few week’s notice–she works best under stress!
I bought a copy of celebraTORI for Tori to sign. The book is really terrific. I can sometimes be intimidated by books about entertaining (I’m no Martha Stewart) but this book is full of beautiful photos, funny anecdotoes and family photos from Tori herself, and lots of easy, low-budget, practical advice. My favorite tip is to create an inexpensive “candy bar” with whatever glass jars you have around the house–set up a colorful table with the jars of table, provide little goody bags, and let guests fill their bags as a take-home favor.
I have to say again that Tori is one of the nicest, sweetest, most down-to-earth celebrities I’ve met. She spent so much time chatting with each mom who was there to meet her, and taking endless photos with everyone. She is a class act and I am excited to see where her next ventures lead her.

Disclosure: I attended this event as a guest of The Moms. I received a gift bag and also won a raffle prize (thanks, Teleflora) but I was not compensated for this post, and all opinions are entirely my own.
