As a member of the Duane Reade VIP Blogger team, I’ve just completed my second shopping excursion for the NYC chain store–this time, to try out Unilever’s new Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy products, which promises stronger, healthier hair in 7 days. I have to say that I’m woefully behind the 8 ball when it comes to hair and beauty products for myself (typical of a mom, I am probably more focused on finding a good detangling shampoo for my daughter’s wild hair than finding new hair products for myself). So since I’ve been using the same tired shampoos and conditioners for years now, I was more than eager to try out something new.
I headed to the haircare aisle….
…and spotted the new Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy products identified near the ubiquitous purple “New Products! Hot Prices!” sign (by the way, Duane Reade employees now sport coordinating purple tees, which is super cute).
Here is a snapshot of some of the varieties of Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy products:
One variation I could rule out immediately for myself was Volumizing Root Boost. I’ve got huge Rosanne Rosanna Danna hair these days thanks to the humidity, so Volumizing is the opposite of what I need. But if you have soft, fine hair, this might be helpful for you:
There were also options for Damaged & Color Repaired Hair (not applicable to me…yet). Honestly I would’ve liked to see more varieties including an option exclusively for dry hair…but maybe this is coming later (I’m told that more products in this line will be arriving at Duane Reade in July). In the end, I figured that “Total Care” would take care of my hair best, so this is the product that I chose to buy:
And the results? So far, so good. I’ve only used it twice, so I’m not at the full week of “therapy” yet, but my hair does feel softer and healthier. It also feels gentle and smells terrific–like the kind of shampoo you are treated to at a salon.
