10 Great New Gifts at The MoMA Design Store

My recent post about kids gifts from The Museum of Modern Art Design Shop’s spring press review got lots of traffic, so I want to share some more finds from the event too, both for kids and grown-ups.  Check these out (and note that for easy gift-giving, MoMA offers flat shipping for $6.95 and pretty silver gift wrap for $5):

Yellow Submarino Organizer ($70).  A new top seller at the MoMA Store, Hector Serrano’s Submarino Organizer is equally at home in a kid’s bathroom or a grown-up’s office.  Each section connects magnetically.

Stainless Steel Ice Cream Bowls ($60).   These chunky, gleaming stainless steel bowls scream out for ice cream sundaes.  And they are double-walled to keep your sweets colder longer.  Includes matching spoons.

Magritte Plate Set ($96).  Inspired by the artworks of famous Surrealist painter René Magritte, these six durable, dishwasher-safe plates are sure to liven up your next dinner (or playdate).

Archi Desk Accessories– Pen Cup ($18).  My 10-year-old daughter, an aspiring architect, has this pencil cup on her own desk.  It was inspired by late 19th-century building facades in NYC’s Soho neighborhood.

Screwdriver Set ($65).  Keep this gift in mind for Father’s Day–it’s probably the most beautiful, ergonomic screwdriver set you’ll find.  I love the rounded beech wood handles.

Lumio Book Lamp ($160).  If I had time to read at night, I’d surely want to do so by the light of this innovative sculpture LED lamp which is a “book” that open and expands to provide reading light.

Bitten Soap ($15). A fun conversation piece by MoMA artist Maurizio Cattelan, this whimsical bitten bath soap is organic, vegetable-based, and citrus scented.

Color Block iPhone5 Case ($50).  I love this iPhone take on the color block trend (especially combining rich colors with polished cherry wood), and I also adore the “grass”-covered version at top.

FORM Tea Set (up to $822). Isn’t this a beauty?  Artist Tom Dixon’s lustrous brass tea set is dipped in warm gold wash for a soft matte surface.  Yes, it’s pricey, but even one component makes a great hostess gift.

Tri Color Wave Bag ($595).  I adore this geometric, faceted bag by designer Issey Miyake.  Composed of black, silver, and white triangles, each bag is one of a kind.
